About Dressing Ease: who writes it and where the advice comes from

An independent guide, narrow on purpose, built from public dressing guidance, Fatobuy's own help pages and everyday know-how about ordinary clothes.

Why this site reads garments this way

Catalog sites usually answer what a garment looks like and what it costs. They rarely answer whether you can get into it on your own. For many people that is the first question: someone whose shoulder will not lift above chest height, someone dressing with one hand for six weeks, someone who sits all day, someone helping a parent dress. This site exists to answer that question for the garments on a shopping catalog, before the money is spent and the parcel has crossed the world.

Our difference is a deliberately narrow scope. We read openings, fastenings, waistbands and shoe collars, and the six moves they ask for. We do not cover sizes, fabrics, alterations or care, which other guides handle, and we never name or rank brands. Each claim about dressing either points to a public source or is marked as common practice, and each Fatobuy fact points to the help page it came from.

Sources, dates and the limits of this advice

The dressing advice on these pages comes from public guidance written by health services, hospitals, a university carer resource and a disability equipment charity, plus widely shared know-how about ordinary clothes. Where a source says something, we name it and link it; where a point is general practice rather than a published rule, we say "usually" or "in practice". The sources we quote:

This is shopping guidance, not medical advice. We do not assess anyone's health, and nothing here replaces an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or doctor who can see how you move. If dressing has recently become hard, a health professional is the right first stop; this site is for the next step, finding clothes that work.

Tests for any Spreadsheet site, starting with this one

A few checks make choosing a Spreadsheet site to rely on easier, and we expect to be held to them. Does it say who runs it and whether it is paid by the agent it talks about? Does it date its facts, and do its links still work? Does it describe the catalog as a catalog, rather than promising hidden finds? Does it name its sources, and does it say where it is guessing?

This guide explains clothing openings and fasteners without selecting a product for an individual. It does not assess medical or personal dressing needs. For purchase support, use the official agent account; this site does not operate an order-support inbox.

Garment words used on these pages

A short glossary of the closure terms these pages use, written as they apply to dressing rather than to garment making. Listing titles on the catalog use many other words for the same parts; the listing page covers the common ones.

Placket
The strip of fabric down a garment's front opening that carries the buttons or snaps.
Separating zip
A zip that comes fully apart at the bottom, with a pin pushed into a box to start it. Used on most jackets.
Closed-bottom zip
A zip fixed together at the bottom, so only the slider moves. Used on half-zip tops, trousers and back-zip dresses.
Two-way zip
A zip with two sliders, so it opens from the top or the bottom.
Hook-and-loop
Two strips, one of tiny hooks and one of soft loops, that grip when pressed together. Often called by a trade name.
Snap or press stud
A two-part metal or plastic fastener that clicks shut when pressed.
Hook-and-bar
A flat metal hook that catches a bar, used at the waistband of suit-style trousers and skirts.
Elastic gore
A stretchy panel set into the side of a shoe or boot so it opens as the foot goes in.
Heel loop
A tab or loop at the back of a shoe to pull on while the foot slides in.
QC photos
Quality-check photos: the standard pictures an agent's warehouse takes of an item on arrival.
Drawings of a separating zip, a closed-bottom zip, a snap and a heel loop, labeled
Four of the glossary terms, drawn.

Independence, referral tags and Fatobuy's own rules

Fatobuy does not run this site, pay for it or review it. Links to the catalog carry a tag that tells the catalog this site sent you; the single Fatobuy address we link, its home page, carries the same kind of tag and no invite code. We earn nothing from Fatobuy at the time of writing; should that change, we will add it to this paragraph.

Fatobuy's own Service Terms rule out support for buying goods that trade on another company's brand, and the same clause covers prescription drugs, tobacco and lottery tickets. This site keeps to garment shapes and closures, names no brands and points to no listing because of a logo. If a listing trades on someone else's brand, leave it; Fatobuy's terms do not support buying it either. The terms are here: Service Terms.

For help with a purchase, contact Fatobuy through your official account. This guide cannot access orders.

Record of changes

Review dates record work actually completed, not an automatic future schedule. The current review entry below explains which sources were refreshed. If a service or price matters to an order, check the current official page and the account’s written offer before paying.

How to judge this guide and a buying service

A useful Spreadsheet links to a real seller item, preserves the selected option and explains what its pictures establish. For dressing effort, the most useful page makes the unresolved question visible instead of replacing it with a score or a “best” label.

  • Choose a seller who answers the exact product question and identifies the option, quantity and applicable remedy. A sales count or a polished gallery alone cannot confirm this.
  • Compare buying services by whether they accept your item and destination, which inspection they offer, total payment cost, parcel options and written support conditions. Use a local seller when you need a physical trial, local warranty handling or a service the agent cannot confirm.
  • Use the 16 categories to discover options, the buying guide for the transaction and the local tool and notes for the site’s specialist check. None of them certifies an individual seller or product.

Community feedback: what is established

During the 22 October 2026 review, public Reddit searches did not yield a sufficiently verifiable Fatobuy shopping case to publish here with an original post, posting date and attributable outcome. This is an evidence gap, not a positive or negative rating of the service. Experiences about another agent have not been substituted.

When checking a discussion yourself, follow the original post and its author’s later updates. Separate payment, seller procurement, warehouse storage and international transit. Note the posting date, destination, item type and any referral or sponsored relationship. A single delivery or refund story cannot establish the normal result, and an unanswered complaint does not establish its eventual outcome.

Updates and official notices

This content review was completed on 22 October 2026. It refreshed the official inspection, fee, photo-service and return articles used in the buying guide; removed repeated text pictures; and clarified decisions where the previous wording inferred an outcome without evidence. Older specialist references keep their original dates rather than being presented as newly tested.

Check Fatobuy’s official site for maintenance, holiday and service notices before paying or releasing a parcel.
